There has been an on going and heated discussion for several centuries about 
"Baptism".  The meaning of the word and whether it is necessary for salvation or not,  seems to be the main concerns. 
 
God commanded us to be immersed, so you have no excuse for not following HIS will for your life.
                                         If the following takes place when someone is immersed

                     You put on Christ Galatians 3:27
                     You wash away your sins Act 22:26
                     You have remission of sins Acts 2:38
                     You are saved I Peter 3:21
                     You are made free from sin Romans 6:17-18
                     You benefit by Jesus's death Romans 6:3-4
                     You enter the Body of Christ I Corinthians 12:13
                     You are united with His death, burial, and resurrection Romans 6:1-12

                                  Then what is your condition without being Immersed into Christ?
